About the role Working within the EMEA Commercial Operations team, this position will manage and bring on board distributors within the regions such as Africa, Central Asia (Indian subcontinent), Eastern Europe, Middle East, Russia and Turkey. The role will involve working with distributors and end users including developing appropriate sales channels in Eastern Europe. The role requires 35> of time to be out in the field in the region.

You will be expected to deliver growth and drive business through a defined plan. Ability to monitor, analyse and report back on business performance on a routine basis is essential.

You will be expected to be the primary point of contact for our distributors, build and develop relationships across all levels of the target customer base, in order to promote and develop strategic plans to provide sustainable business development.

About Commercial Operations at AbcamThe EMEA Commercial Operations team at Abcam are based both in the field and at our global headquarters in Cambridge UK. The team is made up of experienced Life Science Sales and Marketing professionals and have responsibility to deliver revenue across the EMEA territory. Their key focus is helping customers achieve their goals whilst ensuring an excellent Customer Experience for all of our Academic, Biotech, Diagnostic and Industrial accounts. There have been some exciting recent changes with a new structure and operating model established to support our continued growth.

Roles & responsibilities:
  • Responsible for delivering revenue, profitability and market share growth objectives
  • Develop appropriate channels in the region with commercial plans to achieve and exceed growth targets
  • Managing Distributors
  • Working closely with EMEA Marketing Executives to organize roadshows or exhibitions in Key countries to support product promotion and demonstrate our technical capabilities to customers throughout the region.
  • Establish and us metrics to assess and report performance of each promotional program
  • Actively engages with the EMEA Marketing Executives to take advantage of unique opportunities to promote products to drive growth
  • Refines marketing materials in collaboration with the marketing teams to align with channel needs
  • Actively problem solves to eliminate barriers between internal/external organizations
  • Monitor key competitors' activities within the regions and actively react to protect and gain the market share
  • Provides regular, timely feedback to line manager on business development in the local geography
  • Willingness and ability to travel at least 35> of the time
  • Working closely with Finance and Customer Service team to monitor distributors' financial situation and order processing
  • Arrange annual distributor meeting with training about products and discussions to improve sales
About youThe role requires someone educated to degree level in a relevant Life Sciences subject with some experience in a Sales or Marketing role ideally in a commercial Life Sciences business. Experience working in a complex market landscape, ideally under a distribution model would be highly advantageous. The successful candidate will have strong analytical and problem solving skills as well as the ability to communicate and influence at a high level.
