Londoners are different, and we're proud of it, we are united. We share a passion for this city. We strive to make it a better place, every day. And we believe in something better. For us, it's vital that the Met Police reflects this vibrant, unique and ever-evolving capital. Which is why we're looking for Londoners from all backgrounds to join us and become police constables.

About the role

As a new police constable at the Met, you'll work on the front-line - supporting victims and witnesses, providing reassurance and keeping people safe. It's about being proactive, helping prevent crime before it's happened and acting with integrity at all times - even when you're out of uniform. As a unique challenge, it's an immensely rewarding job that will put you at the heart of our communities and give you excellent career prospects.

About you

It's critical that our workforce reflects our city, and the diversity of our communities. That's why we're so committed to recruiting the right people from every background. People with the ability to earn trust and respect. People who can build positive relationships with all kinds of individuals. People who want to make this the safest city in the world.

To truly serve our city, we need to understand it. So it's important you've lived in London within the geographical area covered by the Met for at least three of the last six years. And, ideally, you'll speak a second language. However, you may also still apply if you've been abroad serving in the armed forces or working for the UK government, and have lived in a London borough for three of the last six years you've lived in the UK.
