Service Technician (Cage Wash)

Starting salary £17,088 - £19,850 per annum

Band salary £17,088 - £25,094 per annum

The Medical Research Council is a government-funded institute dedicated to the advancement of research into human disease. We are looking to recruit a Service Technician within our rodent facility, based on the Babraham Research Campus, south of Cambridge. The facility exists to ensure excellence in animal welfare whilst supporting researchers, it provides an excellent working environment using the most up-to-date resources and extensive automation.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Delivery and collection of animal cages.

• Processing of water bottles.

• Delivery of stores and stock rotation.

• Operation of robotic cage processing equipment, autoclaves and other machinery.

• Maintenance and routine cleaning of equipment.

• Cleaning of service support areas and other communal areas on a rota basis.

• Use of forklift truck, pallet trucks and other similar equipment.

For this post you will have a minimum of 5 GCSEs grades A-C or equivalent including Maths and English and will work well as part of a team and as an individual. You will also form strong working relationships. Ideally, you will have experience of working with automated and semi-automated, machinery. It would be an advantage to hold a current forklift licence, but training would be given, if required.
